Starting July 1st Woongjin Chemical has standardized 32 mil mesh spacers for all its 8 inch (diameter) 40 inch spiral-wound RO elements (an increase from 28 mil). Also, optional 34 mil mesh spacers are available. Applying the new spacers will help save costs as it reduces the differential pressure. Fouling potential is also reduced because thicker mesh spacers creates more turbulence in the flow of the feed water, which in turn decreases concentration polarization on the membrane surface.
