It was announced on June 6th, 2010 that CSM Fouling Resistant RO Membranes (FRM), manufactured by Woongjin Chemical based in South Korea, were selected for the Fajr Phase II Project to help reduce biological fouling and scaling. The plant, located in Bandar Imam Khomeini, Iran, is expected to be in full operation by September 2011, will have a capacity of 131,000 m3/day (32.3 MGD) and the membranes will be used to treat river water to produce boiler process water. The EPC contractor is Zolal Iran and the client is Fajr Petrochemical Company.
CSM membranes had previously been in use at Fajr’s Phase I Plant since 2006 to produce boiler process as well as drinking water.
