Subject CSM 16-inch RO elements installed at Scottsdale Water Campus Date 09 OCT 2012
The City of Scottsdale had recently expanded their Water Campus Advanced Water Treatment (AWT) Facility. It is one of the oldest and most advanced water treatment facilities in the world to utilize membrane treatment for municipal wastewater reuse. The Water Campus AWT has been operational since 1999, and the recent upgrade boasts an additional 7.1 MGD for a total of 20 MGD in capacity of water produced via reverse osmosis. The expansion was designed to use large diameter (16-inch) membrane elements for reduced footprint for the RO systems.

In June of 2012, CSM membranes, manufactured by Woongjin Chemical America Inc., were installed at the expansion site. This new phase of the Water Campus AWT is currently the largest reuse system in the world to utilize large diameter RO elements. The product water is used for aquifer recharge and golf course irrigation.
Woongjin Chemical America Inc. has almost 40 MGD of contracted projects, with six different municipal agencies, for wastewater reuse within the United States. Woongjin’s patented fouling resistant membrane (FRM) products are globally considered as the preferred choice of membrane elements for difficult feed waters containing high amounts of organic matter.
