Woongjin Chemical succeeded in its development of the reverse osmosis membrane in the early 1990s and was the first to accomplish it in Korea. In 2002, Woongjin Chemical was awarded the World's Best Product Award from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy for its polyester flame-retardant fabric and high bulk polyester staple fiber. The following year, we received an award for the suede stretch fabric and fouling resistant reverse osmosis membrane. Woongjin Chemical's high salt rejection reverse osmosis membrane for seawater desalination earned high recognition by receiving the Prime Minister Medal in New Technology in 2002.
